You're as pretty as a princess!

OOOOO so true, so from pirates last weekend to princesses this weekend, Zoie has had some fun dress up parties to attend. We received a couple pictures from last weeks pirate birthday party today in the mail. How cute! Zoie said she was saying like arrrgh when they took the picture so her mouth looks funny but it is such cute pictures. The birthday girls mom really decked out the place in the pirate theme too, very cleverly done. When you party plan do you go all out with your decor etc...? She mentioned she scopes Goodwill out to see if she can find things that will work with the theme. I just might have to keep that in mind. Another friend of mine loves doing the Goodwill thing too, I find that the smells in those stores can overwhelm me most times so I find it hard to go in them but man have my friends shown me they get some great decor items from doing exactly this. I wish I was a shopper. hehehe Seriously I wish I could force myself to learn the art of bargain shopping, well not so much just bargains but thrifty shopping.
Here is Zoie's BFF's princess creations I came up with. I have to admit I really like the purse in that cartridge. So cute and very easy to put together. I had fun mixing pieces and putting the princess look together. I used my gypsy so I didn't have the face cut and used one my Peachy Keen sets I have for her precious little face. My sentiment is two from MPS's line of stamps that I decided to use together. I liked how it looked once I was done stamping too, man I love see through stamps (aka acrylic stamps) they just make creating that much easier when you can get things lined up just right!
You know I find that when I'm working on a project for someone it makes me so happy to create something that is unique to them or that I think will fit for their likes. When you create do you take your subjects in mind or do you create so much that often times you are creating to have stock rather than an item for someone specifically?
Oh goodness me I have yak'd on far more than I had intended tonight. Must be my need for sleep, I can hardly focus on the typing. Thanks for stopping by to see my cootie (cricut) creations, I would love to hear from you in comments. I enjoy looing around at blogs and others creations so please let me know your blog so I can scope it out. Thanks.

AAAArgh!

That is pirate for alright! Zoie was invited to a pirate party so I decided to make a card.

<--Here is a close up

Here is full card shot -->

...this card was for a friend in who was in her kinder class but is in the opposite class this year. Zoie said the hair was her favorite part. :) Love it when the kids approve. It looked like a super cute party. They came dressed like pirates, made pirate hats, went on a treasure hunt with a treasure map and went home with a treasure chest full of fun pirate goodies. They did a great job with the party.

<--And inside

Next up is going to be a princess motif and bracelet for her BFF. She is going to be Rapunzel for Halloween so this will give her another reason to wear her costume.

Odds and Ends

Hi everyone I have been super busy around home with end of school, volunteering to be the new PTO President for our upcoming school year, last minute family (my cousin and her five daughters) visiting on and off for a couple weeks, small cancer scare and well dealing with issues that are causing me to have a hysterectomy on the 28th of this month. OY I have to go tomorrow for my pre-op hospital visit, blood work, ekg etc... I am super nervous and yet excited to be done with this mess.

I saw that Robyn over at My Pink Stamper has a design team call out see Quote from her site with link to her site:

Design Team Call! My Pink Designers August - January Term!

Hello Everyone!!

If you haven't already heard the news, I have openings for my upcoming 2011 2 Term My Pink Stamper Design Team! All you need to do is add a project for this challenge by next Wednesday, July 20 11:59 pm CST. I will be choosing a handful of you to serve 6 months on my upcoming team! Here are some of the requirements....

I am going to enter so I wanted to be sure and post this up first. :) Stay tuned for my entry I will add it to this post. Good luck to all that apply.

I'm back... Okay here is my entry. :) I have a couple of birthday's that will happen the weekend after my hysterectomy so this is one of the cards I made for my cousin's little monkey.

Recipe:
Card
6 x 3.5 Green
5.75 x 3 3/8 Orange
5.5 x 3.25 Turquoise

Monkey
Cricut Cartridge - Create A Critter (through my Gypsy)
Layers: Bottom - Turquoise; Center - marbled Tan; Top - Brown; Vine - Green
Stickles - Orange
Martha Stewart Brown Flocking Powder
Notes: Using my Gypsy I decided to make a Monkey it went with my cousin's invite which he a monkey face on it :) My monkey is bottom layer turquoise, middle layer tan (extra color) top layer in brown. My brown layer I used my Xyron to put adhesive on both sides attached it to my bottom layers and then used Martha Stewart brown flocking powder on it to make it fuzzy. I used Orange Stickles on the eyes. I used Green for the vine which was one of the monkey's accessories on CAC cart.

Using a tag punch I made the larger tag with the DCWV Animal Cracker paper and medium one in Orange. Stamped on MPS's Simply Sweet Occasions Birthday Fun for my sentiment which I stamped in Brown and embossed with kaleidoscope powder. I attached it to the card using a lighter turquoise shade of ribbon that was sort of ribbed. It was merely a remnant piece I had which I thought looked good. I used my Zots glue dots to adhere it under the monkey's hand and under the tag on the card to keep it in place.

Inside Card:
DCWV Animal Crackers 5.75 x 3 3/8
Brown 3.5 x 3.25
Green 3 x 3

Notes - I chose the DCWV Animal Crackers because of the cute blue circle with the monkey in it and similar phrase that was on the Monkey invite.

Okay so now you know what I did and why. I hope you like it. Comments are always welcome and encouraged. Thanks for stopping by.

HUGS, Shannon

Happy Easter

I was up super late last night... oh wait it was really early this morning ROFL. Anyway I was making bunnies for the kids Easter baskets. I had been searching for stuff for Zoie's birthday when somehow I came across Stamp A Latte and loved her bunny class project so I printed it and created my own. :D I had to figure out the dimensions I wanted for them etc...

I pulled out my Gypsy and played with mostly with my George cartridge. I used the heart off of Doodlecharms (one of my fav's) and then put them together. I did enjoy figuring it out. :) I thought they were pretty cute. I would have made the inside pink bigger for the ears and perhaps the black eye parts but over all the rest of it was pretty cute.

Scott said the kids were cute that they were very proud of themselves for finding mama and daddy's basket not that we hid ours hard ROFL nor did we have much in ours but Scott helped them find their baskets and once they found them they were super excited. Zoie was cute she put her candy in her candy Ziploc and let me know she ate a piece after she ate her breakfast. She showed me her very cute Mollie Monkey Scentsy Buddy, and her really cool book showing her how to create finger print pictures Klutz Fingerprint Fabulous she totally loved both her items. Mama and Daddy did good. Zach got the Roarbert Lion Scentsy Buddy and Klutz Book of Paper Airplane.

We made our colored eggs, then we got ourselves ready to go to Grandma's so I combined two hairdo's I do for Zoie for her hair today. She was wearing a super cute red dress that had a couple lady bugs on it so we put her lady bug earrings in and had her wear her sparkly red shoes. The kids hunted around Grandma's house. We went over to my mom's and had yummy ham, baked beans (my mom's ROCK) and potato salad. Then we rushed back home for Scott to run off to play hockey. It was a nice day, how was yours? I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. HUGS See you soon, working on Zoie's cupcake invites still. :D Check back soon.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

It was an accident but how nice. My Pink Stamper has a design team and I was visiting the birthday ladies blogs and commented on how I thought Andrea of Devine Domesticity's Woody goody bag was cute and somehow I won it. Not the goody bag but her giveaway that I didn't know I was entering {blush} I didn't even realize I was supposed to tell how I enjoy spending my birthday. Typically for my birthday I just enjoy being with family and friends.

This past year I turned the big 4-0 that is right March 12 I turned 40. We spent it as a family unit playing at the water park. Not necessarily how I might have really wanted to spend my 40th but my hubby's heart was in the right place. We had a blast. Although I must admit I had a minor melt down. Now I know you're thinking hello you turned 40 and you had a melt down. LOL I have been having a great deal of issues and in the end wasn't truly able to enjoy that weekend because of my issues. It takes away more than you can imagine. Now I love my husband and enjoy that he made a decision for what we were doing so that in itself was a great thing. :D

Speaking of Robyn she was given an Expression 2 to giveaway by Provo Craft... how AWESOME is that! Be sure to check out Robyn's blog and enter. I posted it on my Facebook page too.

Zoie's Birthday

...is coming up so i am working on an invite for her birthday party. I was perusing the blogisphere {is that a word? well I don't care I like making up fun words anyhow} and found some inspiration from Mickeydee and The Mad Scrapper combined these two cards to come up with my creation. I may dink with the papers and such still not sure exactly but for now I thought I would add this to MPS Blog Hop.

Cricut Cartridges: Sweet Treats
Stamps: My Pink Stamper Simply Sweet Occasions
Paper: various DCWV papers
Ink: Colorbox
Accessories: Pink sheer ribbon (honestly I bought it back in 2002 when doing my wedding and I bought a ton so I'm using it up.) :D

Enjoy!

MPS Super Yummy

Not sure if this is super yummy but I made this birthday card for a boy in my daughters class, his party is on Sunday. Since Zoie was so excited for the Mini Monster cart I thought I would make her one from that. She choose this image.

I used two MPS stamps from Simply Sweet Occasions, my cuts were from Cricut cartridges Mini Monsters and Doodlecharms. Thanks for stopping by.

Ka-winky-dink

MPS is doing a birthday challenge and I had a card I was planning on making so the two just happen to coincide! How lucky for me, means I won't have to stay up late completing it the night before I want to give it to her. LOL

I had an idea that I wanted to make a pot of flowers, so then I did a search to get some extra inspiration and then had to try this card I found it was positively cute and just slightly off from what I had intended in the first place. LOL

Here are some of the cards that inspired mine. Flower Pot Pocket Card
I used WIMG for all the cuts, and MPS stamp sets Everyday Occasions & Simply Sweet Occasions. My idea was to make a normal card with the fold at the top which would mean the flowers would cover the back as the card opens. My hubby didn't think that would work very well. After my research of what is out there I decided to do the pot card with the flower insert. My variation was to keep my card idea and use it to help get it to stand on it's own.

I adapted it for what I wanted, plus I used the cricut cartridge and most of what I saw didn't use the cricut for the pot. I know this because I found this tutorial on making the pot of flowers here: Flower Pot Card Tutorial

Well this is my entry for Robyn's challenge. Robyn if you see this I hope your birthday was everything you wanted and a yummy cupcake!

Zoie's Monster

She just had to make her friend a monster after sitting and holding the mini monster cartridge case and looking at the back. I totally forgot to get a picture of it before she went off to school to give it to her friend. It was pretty cute.

I did manage to get Kaya and her to let me take a picture of them with the monster so we got a pic of it but it isn't a great one, you can't see the details that make it so super cute! Sentiment on it is MPS Everyday Occasions "My Friend". Just had to mention this, I'm going to have to make a card pack with monsters! So fun

MPS Blog Hop

I need to start off with Happy 2011 since this is my frist post of the new year. I look forward to a wonderful year, as long as it is better than 2010 I will be SUPER happy!

I really need to check in more often and show off my handy work. I often make things and don't show it off. I love poking around in the blog heaven and seeing what others create too.

Last night I did all the rounds of the Robyn's My Pink Stamper Blog Hop, enjoying all the fabulous items that people had created for the first hop. If you would like to participate in Robyn's First Blog Hop ...hop on over to her blog and start with the first My Pink Designer listed in her blog hop entry. I have been wanting to make a thank you card for someone so I started with what I had been thinking of originally. Then I adjusted my colors for mission message and ended up doing both but now I'm not sure if I will make it a thank you card. LOL I still can but I haven't totally made up my mind but I just love what I came up with.

I really like how the inside turned out too, I don't often decorate the inside of cards but I really like how the reversing of colors looked inside.

Well thanks for stopping by, I had a ton of fun creating something for the hop. See you soon. It is rain rain rain here in Oregon so I will bid you all adu, ciao for now and have a cootie free day!
